Homs Khalid Ibn al-Walid Mosque

Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The mosque was rebuilt in the late Turkish period (1908-13) on the site of an Ayyubid one. There is a large shrine that's the reputed tomb of an early follower of Muhammad, Khaild Ibn al-Walid, whose militarty campaigns in Syria led to the Islamic contest. He died in 642. One of pictures taken in 2009 (I forgot changing the date setting in my camera). The mosque has since been heavily damaged and stands amidst a sea of destroyed buildings.
