English: A depiction of Osman, allegedly a son of Ottoman Sultan Ibrahim of the Ottoman Empire. He and his mother Zaffira (named on p. 645 of the source, and illustrated in a separate engraving: see below), said to be one of the Sultan's wives, were on a Turkish ship that was part of a convoy sailing from Constantinople to Alexandria and carrying a number of pilgrims bound for Mecca, which was attacked by the Knights Hospitaller of Malta during the Action of 28 September 1644. |
