Description

Triptych: The three major contributors to Lululaund mansion. From left:

  1. Sir Hubert's uncle John, joiner and carver, who had moved back to Europe from Cleveland, Ohio, and had settled in Bushey with his whole family by 1883, giving up his enterprise in the USA, to assist his brother and to direct the building works "on location". His portrait was painted in 1893.
  2. Sir Hubert's uncle Anton, a weaver who had settled in Long Island, provided draperies according his nephews' designs. He was portayed during the painter's last sojourn in the USA, ~ before May 1886.
  3. Sir Hubert's father Lorenz, joiner and carver. Portrayed in 1885, when preparative work for the mansion's furniture and decoration was in its third year.
