English: An illustration of the w:The Tortoise and the Geese story. Opaque watercolour (and gold and silver) on paper. Illustration from the Humayunnama, a 16th-century Ottoman Turkish translation by Ali Chelebi of the Arabic Kalilatun u Damnatun (Kalila va Dimna), which is also known as 'Fables of Bidpai' (or Pilpay), as Anvar-i Suhaili in Persian, and ultimately is derived from the Panchatantra in Sanskrit (India).
