Summary
[edit]DescriptionIDM-2023-comic-challenge-2046.jpg |
English: This comic is based on the paradox of Achilles and the tortoise. Let's imagine that Achilles and a tortoise are having a race, that the tortoise travels at one-tenth the speed of Achilles and that it starts with an advantage of 10 meters. While Achilles will have covered those 10 meters, meanwhile the tortoise will have covered 1 meter. Continuing to infinity like this, we note that the distance between them, altough very small, is present and Achilles will never reach the tortoise. The paradox is based on the principle that the infinite sum of rational numbers 1/10 + 1/100 + 1/1000 +1/10 to the power of n will give a result very close to 1, but never equal to 1. |
