Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Annual Awards Function of the Western Fleet, FLING 2022, outlined the activities and accomplishments of the Sword Arm over the past year, and was held at Naval Dockyard, Mumbai on 24 July 2022. It was hosted by Rear Admiral Sameer Saxena, the Fleet Commander, and had Vice Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, WNC as the Chief Guest. The Fleet Operations Officer presented the Annual Report of the Fleet for the past year on the occasion. In a busy operational year, the Fleet was deployed actively and frequently in an expanse defined by the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf in the West to the Andaman and Nicobar islands in the East. It's tasking included mission-based deployments, anti-narcotics missions, presence-cum-surveillance missions, and EEZ patrols. It also conducted a number of weapon firings in all domains and participated extensively in maritime partnership and bilateral exercises, including those with RN Queen Elizabeth Carrier Strike Group and a French nuclear submarine. A total of 21 trophies representing various dimensions of Maritime Operations were awarded to fleet ships. Apart from recognising the operational excellence of Indian Navy and valuable contribution its ships and brave crews make to National Security and regional stability, FLING 22 also showcased very impressive talent of men, women and families of the Western Fleet.
