Español: La Iglesia de la Merced fue construida a finales del siglo XIX y concluyó su construcción en el año de 1945. Es una edificación de planta basilical de tres naves, una principal y dos laterales.
En la Basílica de la Merced se ofreció la misa de acción de gracias por el retorno de los ibarreños sobrevivientes del terremoto del 16 de agosto de 1868. Es de estilo Románico, aquí se conservan valiosas muestras pictóricas con cuadros recordatorios de la reconstrucción de la ciudad y su altar mayor es decorado con pan de Oro.
