Com a construção da estrada de ferro, foi erguida uma pequena capela em louvor ao Senhor Bom Jesus da Cana Verde, a qual passou a ser chamada de Bom Jesus dos Passos quando em 1898, com a reforma da igreja, a Baronesa do Cerro Azul doou a imagem do padroeiro. A edificação da atual Matriz levou 10 anos para ser concluída. Localiza-se na Avenida Getúlio Vargas, s/nº - centro.
