D. S. meeting house erectedin Denmarks capital at the time ofthe conference there. Traveling toand from the countries named, shealso visited Belgium, England, France,Switzerland, Germany and Sweden.With the youngest three of the chil-dren, who had accompanied their par-ents, she returned to Salt Lake Cityin the fall of 1932, her husband re-maining in the Netherlands 15 monthslonger. At home Sister Kooyman has beenconnected with the Relief Societies ofseveral Salt Lake wards, and is atpresent—Nov., 1935—serving as thesecretary of the 19th Ward group. Sheis intensely interested, also, in Templework, having procured many namesof her kindred dead. Her first con-vincing and soul-satisfying impres-sions of the Lords great latter-daywork have been deepened and sancti-fied by years of unselfish service.

McFARLANE, Horace James, thirdBishop of the Elmhurst Ward, SanFrancisco Stake, California, was bornOct. 9, 1894, in Ogden, Utah, the sonof James McFarlane and Tirzah Shaw,He was baptized Aug. 6, 1904, by PeterG. Paulson, and, after officiating inthe Aaronic Priesthood was ordainedan Elder Aug. 18, 1918, by Bishop Wm.A. Budge; a Seventy, Dec. 12, 1920, byBrigham H. Roberts, and a HighPriest June 28, 1931, by Hyrum H.Goddard. After receiving his educa-tion in the public schools of Ogden hefollowed the occupation of a salesmanfrom 1914 to 1918, when he enteredthe employ of the Southern Pacific 104 LATTER-DAY SAINT Company in the office of the superin-tendent and later was transferred tothe Division Auditors Office in Ogden.During- this time he resided in theOgden Seventh Ward, where he actedas ward clerk from 1919 to 1920; alsoas a Sunday school teacher and for atime as assistant superintendent ofSunday schools.
