Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Impact breccias are poorly-sorted, clastic-textured rocks having angular clasts. They form when asteroids or meteoroids impact the surface and pulverize rocks in the target area.

Seen here is an impact breccia from Finland - its age is undetermined. The target rocks are Paleoproterozoic (about 1.9 billion years old). The impact crater itself is Lake Paasselkä, which has a subrounded shape

Locality: unrecorded/undisclosed site at or near Lake Paasselkä, far-eastern Southern Savonia, southeastern Finland
