Amatorski - Deleting Borders Nederlands: Amatorski is een post-rockband die bekend raakte nadat ze de finale haalden van Humo's Rock Rally 2010. Hun muziek wordt gekenmerkt door kwetsbare, murmelende, melancholische en sissende geluiden. In het multimediale project 'deleting borders', dat in deSingel wordt gecreëerd, gaat Amatorski op zoek naar een andere artistieke identiteit. Hoe kan je als popmuzikant een originele stem hebben die helemaal in het nu staat? Hoe ga je om met de nooit geziene toegankelijkheid tot alle mogelijke muziekstijlen en genres uit het verleden? Is het nog mogelijk om origineel te zijn? De grenzen tussen heden en verleden lijken op internet helemaal uitgewist. Maar nog meer grenzen vervagen: tussen artistieke disciplines, tussen artiest en publiek; en sinds het internet gewoon in je broekzak zit, vervaagt zelfs de grens tussen online en offline. Amatorski gaat op zoek naar zijn eigen weg en stem in deze chaotische realiteit. Hoe vertaal je de 'noise' van het internet naar de eerder minimale, kale en rustgevende sound die zo typisch is voor de band? De grenzen van het internet - de kracht van sociale netwerken, crowdsourcing, geolocation, ... - worden afgetast en geïntegreerd in het artistieke creatieproces dat in alle betekenissen van het woord de traditionele grenzen wil doorbreken. Français : Amatorski est un groupe de post-rock qui s'est fait connaître en atteignant la finale du Humo's Rock Rally en 2010. Sa musique se caractérise par des sonorités délicates, murmurantes, mélancoliques et susurrantes. Lors du spectacle multimédia ' deleting borders ', créé à deSingel, Amatorski part en quête d'une autre identité artistique. Comment peut-on, en tant que musicien pop, faire entendre une voix originale ancrée résolument dans le présent ? Comment faut-il réagir à l'accessibilité sans précédent de tous les styles et genres musicaux existants ? Est-il encore possible d'être original ? Sur Internet, la démarcation entre le présent et le passé semble entièrement effacée. Mais d'autres barrières s'estompent également : celles qui séparent les différentes disciplines, l'artiste et le public et, puisque l'Internet se glisse tout simplement dans notre poche, même la différence entre ' en ligne ' et ' hors ligne '. Amatorski cherche ses propres voie et voix dans cette réalité chaotique. Comment transposer le ' bruit ' d'Internet au son plutôt minimaliste, nu et apaisant, tellement spécifique au groupe ? Les limites de l'Internet - la puissance des réseaux sociaux, le crowdsourcing, la géolocalisation... - sont explorées et intégrées dans le processus de création artistique qui veut sortir des ornières, à tous les sens du terme. English: Amatorski is a post-rock band that sprang to fame after making the final of Humo's Rock Rally 2010. The band's music is characterized by exposed, mumbling, melancholic and hissing sounds. In the 'Deleting Borders' multimedia project created at deSingel, Amatorski sets out to find a different artistic identity. How, as a pop musician, can one have an original voice that is totally of the present? How does one approach what is now unprecedented access to all the musical styles and genres of the past? Is it still possible to be original? On the internet, the borders between present and past appear to be totally erased. Even more borders are becoming blurred between artistic disciplines, between artiste and public. Since we now have the internet in our back pockets, even the distinction between online and offline is becoming vague. Amatorski is in search of its own path and voice in this chaotic reality. How does one translate the 'noise' of the internet into what is rather the minimal, bare and calming sound that is so typical of this band? The borders of the internet - the power of social networks, crowd-sourcing, geo-location, etc. - are explored and integrated into the artistic process of creation that - in all senses of the word - seeks to break through traditional barriers. |
