Artemis Quartett Nederlands: Het Artemis Quartett staat op eenzame hoogte. Het Alban Berg Quartett van vandaag zouden we ze kunnen noemen. Artemis heeft nog maar net een nieuwe, veelbekroonde standaardopname van de integrale Beethovenkwartetten afgeleverd, of het ensemble begint alweer aan een ambitieuze Schubertbox. Geen wonder dat van beide componisten ook in deSingel muziek uit de koffer komt. Zo staat van Franz Schubert zijn Vijftiende Strijkkwartet op het programma. Het geldt als zijn laatste werk binnen het genre waarvoor hij nog één keer alles uit de kast haalde, getuige de symfonische schaal en structuur van de partituur. Ook Ludwig van Beethovens 'Große Fuge' stamt uit diens laatste levensjaren. Het is een monumentaal staaltje contrapunt waarmee de Duitse meester een voorschotje nam op de muziekgeschiedenis. Met zijn warmbloedige Derde Strijkkwartet schreef Felix Mendelssohn muziek die bijna uit haar classicistische voegen barst van blijmoedige energie. Français : L'Artemis Quartett trône loin au-dessus de la mêlée ; on pourrait dire qu'il est l'Alban Berg Quartett de notre époque. Artemis vient seulement de livrer un nouvel enregistrement, maintes fois récompensé, de l'intégrale des quatuors de Beethoven, et voilà déjà que l'ensemble se lance dans l'enregistrement d'un ambitieux coffret Schubert. Il n'est donc pas étonnant que ces deux compositeurs figurent à l'affiche à deSingel. Le programme du concert comprend le Quatuor à Cordes n° 15 de Franz Schubert, considéré comme la dernière œuvre du genre pour laquelle il a ressorti toutes ses armes, comme en témoignent l'envergure et la structure symphonique de la partition. La ' Große Fuge ' (Grande Fugue) de Ludwig van Beethoven date des dernières années du compositeur. C'est un monumental tour de force dans le contrepoint, qui reste à jamais inscrit dans l'histoire de la musique. Felix Mendelssohn a livré avec son Quatuor à Cordes n°3, d'une grande vivacité, une œuvre dont l'énergie allègre la fait presque sortir de son cadre classique. English: The Artemis Quartet is in a class of its own and could be called the Alban Berg Quartet of today. It has only just issued a new, highly acclaimed standard recording of the complete Beethoven quartets, yet the ensemble is already beginning on an ambitious Schubert box. It's no wonder, then, that the two composers are also featuring in deSingel's music programme. Here, in particular, we have Franz Schubert's Fifteenth String Quartet, his last work in the genre and one in which, once again, he pulls out all the stops, witness the symphonic scale and structure of the scoring. A similarly late work is Beethoven's 'Grosse Fuge', a monumental example of counterpoint with which the German master made more than sure of his place in musical history. Felix Mendelssohn's Third String Quartet is warm-blooded music that virtually bursts its classical bounds with its cheery energy. |
