B'Rock & Vox Luminis olv. Lionel Meunier - Dowland, Purcell, Gilles Nederlands: Wat komt er na de dood? Verdriet, een naamloos gemis, maar ook wondermooie muziek. De ‘Funeral Sentences’ schreef Purcell mogelijk voor de uitvaart van zijn leraar Matthew Locke in 1677. Drie meesterlijke religieuze meditaties, gezongen aan de rand van het graf. Als opmaat speelt B’Rock ‘Lachrimae or Seaven Teares’ van John Dowland. Een absoluut hoogtepunt van de Engelse consortmuziek. Anders dan zijn Engelse confraters, benadrukt Jean Gilles het licht dat in de duisternis van het verdriet schuilt. Zijn prachtig opgebouwd ‘Requiem’ vol subtiele contrasten en herhalingen, was destijds te horen op zowat elke belangrijke Franse begrafenis. In dit repertoire zijn Vox Luminis en Lionel Meunier onovertroffen. De muzikale intelligentie en de prachtige koorklank ontroeren u gegarandeerd. Français : Qu'est-ce qui vient après la mort ?
