BOHO Strings olv. David Ramael - In Deep Silence Nederlands: “De vreselijkste periode uit de geschiedenis is eindelijk tot een einde gekomen”, schreef Richard Strauss aan het eind van Wereldoorlog II. De ‘Metamorphosen’ opgetekend tijdens de donkerste dagen, zijn een persoonlijke reflectie op de totale vernietiging als gevolg van de oorlog. Muzikaal gezien, is dit werk een keerpunt: zo’n donkere en vooral intieme klankcombinaties zijn we van hem niet gewend.Ook bij Raminta Serksnyte staat intense, rauwe emotie centraal. ‘De Profundis’ combineert de postromantische tragiek van Strauss met de klankwerelden van de jazz, het minimalisme en de avant-garde. In de muziek van Wim Henderickx en Vladimir Martynov loert Pietje de Dood om de hoek, voor hen een gelegenheid tot meditatie en stilte. Reflecties over leven en dood die niemand onberoerd laten.Tijdens dit concert wordt de cd 'Nostalgia' (Antarctica Records) voorgesteld, volledig opgedragen aan muziek van de Belgische componist Wim Henderickx. Na het concert vindt een signeersessie plaats met de componist en David Ramael. Français : « La période la plus horrible de l'histoire de l'humanité s'est enfin achevée », a écrit Richard Strauss à la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Ses « Metamorphosen », composés lors des journées les plus noires, sont une réflexion personnelle sur la destruction totale causée par la guerre. Du point de vue musical, l'œuvre est un tournant pour le compositeur, car nous n'avons pas l'habitude de le voir produire de telles combinaisons sonores sombres, surtout d'une telle intimité.Chez Raminta Serksnyte aussi, l'émotion brute et intense prime. « De Profundis » associe le tragique postromantique de Strauss aux univers sonores du jazz, du minimalisme et de l'avant-garde.Dans la musique de Wim Henderickx et Vladimir Martynov, la Mort est aux aguets, l'occasion de s'enfoncer dans la méditation et le silence. Personne ne peut rester insensible à ces réflexions sur la vie et la mort. English: “The most horrific period in history has finally come to an end”, wrote Richard Strauss at the end of World War II. The ‘Metamorphosen’, composed during the darkest days, are his personal reflection on the total destruction that resulted from the war.
