Ictus . Georges-Elie Octors - Scratches & Sequences Nederlands: Scratches en sequences. Dat zijn de overkoepelende begrippen waarmee Ictus de werken van Michael Gordon, Paul Oomen, Raphael Cendo en Riccardo Nova bundelt. Nova, het meest prominent aanwezig in dit concert, is niet voor één gat te vangen. Volleerd in de Karnatische muziek (klassieke muziek van Zuid-India), studies bij Franco Donatoni in combinatie met dj-experimenten in Milaan en een nauwe samenwerking met het elektroduo Pan Sonic maken Riccardo Nova tot een moeilijk te plaatsen fenomeen. Zowel 'Ma's Sequence' als 'Thirteen' worden door één ritmische formule uit de Zuid-Indiase muziek beheerst. Ritmische maar ook sonore sequenties zijn tevens bepalend in de andere stukken van dit concert. In het werk van Bang on a Can-stichter Michael Gordon is het ensemble in twee rivaliserende groepen opgedeeld. De jonge Franse Raphaël Cendo werkt met elektronica als een alles vermenigvuldigende schaduw. Tot slot wordt in 'Aleph' van Paul Oomen de stem geleidelijk door het ensemble de hoogte in gestuwd ... Français : Scratches et sequences. Ce sont les concepts par lesquels Ictus englobe les œuvres de Michael Gordon, Paul Oomen, Raphael Cendo et Riccardo Nova. Nova, au premier plan dans ce concert, est un ensemble polyvalent. Formation en musique carnatique (musique classique d'Inde du sud), études chez Franco Donatoni combinées à des expériences dj à Milan ainsi qu'une étroite collaboration avec le duo électro Pan Sonic font de Riccardo Nova un phénomène difficile à saisir. Tant 'Ma's Sequence' que 'Thirteen' sont régis par une seule formule rythmique originaire de la musique d'Inde du sud. Des séquences rythmiques et sonores sont également déterminantes dans les autres œuvres de ce concert. Dans l'œuvre de Michael Gordon, fondateur de Bang on a Can, l'ensemble est divisé en deux groupes qui rivalisent. Le jeune compositeur français Raphaël Cendo travaille avec l'électronique comme une ombre se multipliant de façon indéfinie. Et pour terminer, dans 'Aleph' de Paul Oomen, nous entendrons la voix progressivement poussée dans les aigus par l'ensemble ... English: Scratches and sequences. These are the overriding concepts with which Ictus brings together the works of Michael Gordon, Paul Oomen, Raphael Cendo and Riccardo Nova. Nova, whose works are the most prominent in this concert, is impossible to pigeon-hole. Proficiency in Karnatakan music (classical music from southern India), studies alongside Franco Donatoni in combination with DJ experiments in Milan and a close collaboration with the electro duo Pan Sonic make Riccardo Nova a phenomenon who is difficult to categorise.
