Philippe Pierlot - Johannes Passion Nederlands: Een extra concert van formaat voor de liefhebbers van passiemuziek, deze uitvoering van Bachs Johannes Passion door Ricercar Consort. Zonder overdrijven mag men stellen dat de Johannes Passion de apotheose is van de gehele westerse muziekgeschiedenis tot 1724. Johann Sebastian Bach bekleedde in 1724 sinds een jaar de post van Thomascantor in Leipzig. Juist in deze periode schreef Bach twee monumenten voor de eeuwigheid: de Johannes en de Matthäus Passion. In deze passies springt Bach vrij om met de Bijbelteksten. Hij verrijkt en becommentarieert ze met beschouwende teksten. De toonzetting is haast madrigalistisch. De mystieke ondertoon en de uitgesproken dramatische berechtigingsscènes onderscheiden de Johannes Passion van de Matthäus Passion uit 1729 die eerder verhalend en bijwijlen zelfs lyrisch is. Uit dit muzikale passieverhaal volgens Johannes spreekt - meer dan in andere werken - Bachs bewustzijn van de dood. Het werk kan enkel begrepen worden vanuit zijn sterke religiositeit, zijn overtuigd lutheranisme en zijn leven en sterven met God. De Blauwe Zaal zal weergalmen als een kerk. C'est aussi alors que Bach composa deux chefs-d'œuvre immortels : la Passion selon Saint Jean et la Passion selon Saint Matthieu. Dans ces œuvres, Bach aborde les textes de la Bible très librement, les enrichissant et les commentant de textes au caractère contemplatif. La forme présente des similitudes avec celle d'un madrigal. Le caractère mystique et les scènes très dramatiques distinguent néanmoins la Passion selon Saint Jean de celle selon Saint Matthieu, cette dernière datant de 1729, et présentant un caractère plutôt narratif et parfois même lyrique. Dans cette Passion selon Saint Jean transparaît - bien plus que dans d'autres œuvres - la conscience que Bach a de la mort. On ne peut comprendre l'œuvre qu'à travers son sentiment religieux très profond, ses convictions luthériennes, et sa vie et mort aux côtés de Dieu. La Salle Bleue résonnera telle une église. It can be said without exaggeration that the St John Passion is the apotheosis of the whole of Western musical history up to 1724. In 1724, Bach had held the post of Thomas Cantor in Leipzig for a year, and it was in this period that he wrote two everlasting monuments: the St John Passion and the St Matthew Passion. He was quite free with the Biblical texts in these works. He expanded and commented on them using contemplative writings. The musical setting is almost like a madrigal. The mystical undertone and the emphatically dramatic judgement scenes distinguish the St John Passion from the 1729 St Matthew Passion, which is more narrative and occasionally even lyrical. This musical version of the story of the passion according to St John expresses Bach's awareness of death more than other works.
