deFilharmonie . Otto Tausk Nederlands: Otto Tausk is een jonge Nederlandse dirigent die furore maakte als vervanger van Valery Gergiev op het Rotterdamse Gergiev Festival. Sinds enkele jaren is hij internationaal een veelgevraagd maestro. Hedendaagse muziek is zijn stokpaardje maar ook het ijzeren repertoire schuwt hij niet. En zo is Tausk dé geknipte figuur voor dit concert. Met op het programma eerst en vooral Ligeti's 'Lontano', een groot orkestgebaar met romantisch rubato. Vervolgens de wereldcreatie van het Tweede Pianoconcerto van Luc Van Hove, een werk dat hij speciaal schreef voor pianist Levente Kende. Melomanen weten hoe die twee elkaar aanvoelen. Dat wordt zonder meer genieten! Sergej Prokofjev schreef zijn Vijfde Symfonie in 1944 tijdens een verblijf in Ivanovo, ver weg van het oorlogsgeweld. Toch werd het werk bekend als loftuiting van de overwinning. De componist dirigeerde zelf voor het laatst bij de creatie ervan in 1945. Toen hij aan het begin van het concert het dirigeerstokje hief, klonken er artilleriesalvo's. Prokofjev wachtte tot er opnieuw stilte was en dirigeerde dan zijn 'triomfantelijke' symfonie. Dat hij zich in Stalins artistieke wurggreep allesbehalve vrij en gelukkig voelde, mag blijken uit de korzeligheid die schuil gaat onder de classicistische geest. Les dernières années, il est devenu un maestro très sollicité et de carrure internationale. La musique contemporaine est son cheval de bataille mais il ne recule pas non plus devant le grand répertoire. C'est pourquoi Tausk est la personnalité idéale pour ce concert. Figure tout d'abord au programme 'Lontano' de Ligeti, grande fresque orchestrale aux rubatos romantiques. Suivra la création mondiale du Deuxième Concerto pour Piano de Luc Van Hove, œuvre qu'il a spécialement composée pour le pianiste Levente Kende. Les mélomanes n'ignorent pas à quel point ces deux-là peuvent être complices. Cela promet d'être un pur plaisir! Serge Prokofiev a composé sa Cinquième Symphonie en 1944 lors d'un séjour à Ivanovo, loin de la violence de la guerre. L'œuvre devint pourtant célèbre comme un hommage à la victoire. Le compositeur dirigea lui-même pour la dernière fois à l'occasion de sa création en 1945. Lorsqu'au début du concert il leva sa baguette de chef, des salves d'artillerie retentirent. Prokofiev attendit d'obtenir à nouveau le silence puis dirigea sa symphonie 'triomphante'. Qu'il se soit senti tout sauf heureux et libre sous le joug artistique de Staline transparaît dans l'exaspération qui se cache sous l'esprit classique. For the past few years he has become an internationally requested conductor. Contemporary music is his favourite genre, but he doesn't shy away from the standard repertoire. In fact, Tausk is the ideal person for this concert. First on the programme we see Ligeti's 'Lontano', a grand orchestral movement with romantic rubato. Following this comes the first ever performance of the Second Piano Concerto by Luc Van Hove, a work he wrote especially for pianist Levente Kende. Music fans can see exactly how these two share an affinity with each other. You are going to enjoy this, for sure! Prokofiev wrote his Fifth Symphony in 1944, during a stay in Ivanovo, far removed from the violence of war. However, this work became famous as a laudatory expression of victory. At its world premiere in 1945, the composer himself conducted, for the very last time. At the beginning of the concert, as he moved to raise the baton, a volley of artillery was heard in the distance. Prokofiev waited until silence returned and proceeded to conduct his 'triumphant' symphony. Stalin had him in an artistic stranglehold, leaving him feeling anything but free, This can clearly be felt in the irritability that lies concealed beneath the classical spirit. |
