Description

Inscription latine en réemploi dans une des tours des murailles de Salona (aujourd'hui Solin, Croatie). Le texte latin est "D(iis) M(anibus) / C(aio) Sabinio / Niciati, eq(uiti) / ex sing(ularibus), ho/mini uerecu/ndissimo, stip(endiorum) / XXV, Fl(auia) Tertia / coiugi incon/parabili, cum / quo uixit / ann(is) XXV, / b(ene) m(erenti)." que l'on pourrait traduire par "Aux Dieux Mânes. À Caius Sabinius Nicia, cavalier (de l'unité) des gardes du corps (du gouverneur), homme très respectable, qui a effectué 25 ans de service militaire, Flavia Tertia (a fait faire ce tombeau) à son mari incomparable avec qui elle a vécu 25 ans, il a été digne de regrets." On peut remarquer que l'inscription prévoyait la possibilité de graver un second texte à droite et qu'elle a été réemployée le haut tourné vers le bas. Référence de l'inscription : CIL III, 2047.
