Summary

[edit]
Description
English: A room holds two mighty piers (a rectangular pillar, or similar structure, that supports an arch, wall or roof, or the hinges of a gate). They have an amazing assortment on their side of animals, people and intertwined branches. On their top are structures in the same style. They now stand wide apart, but they probably earlier were closed, maybe indeed above a door. They are from Aphrodisias, 2nd century AD. I took several pictures of “slices” of the piers, combining them into panoramic pictures of the whole.
