Kommentar: Bei diesen Bronzestücken handelt es sich um eine Emission, die entlang der Schwarzmeerküste von Tomis, über Histria bis nach Nikonion zirkulierten. Durch die Inschrift IΣT ist die milesische Gründung Istros/Histria als Emittent belegt. Es handelt sich um Bronzemünzen, die im 5. Jh. v. Chr. vor allem an Schnittpunkten (Flussmündungen) griechischer Gründungen mit dem autochthonen Hinterland als Zahlungs- bzw. Rechenmittel verwendet wurden. Sie übernahmen die Funktion des sog. Pfeilgeldes, welches in der Region schon seit dem ausgehenden 6. Jh. v. Chr. in den Chorai von Apollonia Pontica, Tomis, Istros/Histria und Berezan/Olbia üblich war.
