Description
Normally, Dahl was very particular with providing signal flags that would identify the vessels he was painting. Not in this case. It is a Danish barque called Mary. But the were no vessels of that name and kind in the Danish ship register around 1882. The experts at Bruun Rasmussen identified her as the Mary of Odense, but that was a two-masted schooner brig that was lost in November 1880.
