  • Dansk: Kunstneren på billedet er sandsynligvis Jørgen Roed selv (jf. Hanne Jønsson i 'C.W. Eckersberg og hans elever', 1983). Jens Peter Munk har stedsbestemt milestenen til en milesten mellem Rosklilde og Roeds hjemby Ringsted, nærmere bestemt ved Vigersted, ca. 10 km fra Ringsted (jf. JPM, Ud i verden, 2005, p. 162).

  • Dansk: Erhvervet af Kunstforeningen i København i 1833; vundet af tegnelærer N. C. Kierkegaard. 1889: læge N. A. Thomsen. Testamentarisk gave fra læge Alfred Thomsen og hustru Antonie, f. Gennich, men maleriet ikke modtaget. Det forblev i famlien. 14. dec. 1953 brev vedr. donationen fra donators svigerdatter Inge Thomsen, som beholdt maleriet til sin død. Modtaget fra Inge Thomsens bo den 4. juli 1961.
  • 31 December 1961: acquired by Statens Museum for Kunst
