Die hebräische Bezeichnung für einen jüdischen Friedhof lautet übersetzt "Haus der Ewigkeit" oder "Haus des Lebens" - ein jüdisches Grab ist auf ewige Zeiten Eigentum des Toten, dessen Ruhe nicht gestört werden darf. 1635-1924: Friedhof der Jüdischen Gemeinde Neckarsulms und bis 1870 auch Verbandsfriedhof jüdischer Gemeinden der Umgebung (Oedheim, Kochendorf, Stein) Seit 1925 gehören die Neckarsulmer Juden zur Heilbronner Gemeinde und beerdigen ihre Toten deshalb in Heilbronn. 1942: Während des nationalsozialistischen Dritten Reiches (1933 - 1945) muss die Reichsvereinbarung der Juden in Deutschland den Friedhof der Stadt Neckarsulm - unter Zwang - unentgeltlich überlassen. Die neue Eigentümerin lässt den Friedhof abräumen, die Grabmale werden größtenteils zerkleinert und für den Feldwegbau verwendet, das Tahara-Haus (Reinigungshaus) zerstört. 1945-1949: Nach der Befreiung von der nationalsozialistischen Diktatur (1945) wurde der Friedhof der Israelitischen Kultusvereinigung Württemberg zurückgegeben. Die noch auffindbaren Grabmalüberreste brachte man auf den Friedhof zurück und stellte das Tahara-Haus wieder her. Von den mehreren hundert Grabmalen, die dieser Friedhof ursprünglich wohl beherbergte, sind heute nur noch sehr wendige vollständig erhalten. Der Friedhof ist ein Ort der Ruhe und des Gedenkens. Wir bitten deshalb um würdiges und rücksichtsvolles Verhalten. Männliche Besucher müssen eine Kopfbedeckung tragen; an Samstagen und jüdischen Feiertagen ist der Besuch nicht gestattet.
