| Description |
English: JR's Bar is a gay bar located at 1519 17th Street NW in the Dupont Circle neighborhood of Washington, D.C. Built in 1887, the building is a contributing property to the Dupont Circle Historic District. Former occupants include Robert McReynolds, a grocer who lived above his place of business; domestic worker Lizzie Johnson; Irish immigrant Eugene J. Hannan and his brother, William P. Hannan, wholesalers and grocers who lived above their store; an A&P grocery store; and the original Paramount Steakhouse (renamed Annie's Paramount Steakhouse in 1962) from 1948 until 1985. |
