Français : Le médecin Gabriel Morel (1769-1842), futur maire de Colmar et son épouse Catherine Dorothée Decker (1771-1852), de profil à gauche.

Gabriel Morel (Gabriel Louis François Anaclet), médecin-chirurgien à la carrière fulgurante (Dr en médecine et chirurgie à 18 ans), fondateur et professeur de l’école d’accouchement du Haut-Rhin, député, conseiller général, maire de Colmar. Il est né le 28 août 1769 à Colmar, décédé le 18 déc. 1842 dans la même ville. Il épousa le 3 janvier 1792, Catherine Dorothée Decker (1771 - 1852) issue de la famille des imprimeurs Decker.

Ce dessin, qui imite l'aspect d'une gravure au physionotrace, sera exposé au musée Unterlinden à Colmar dans la rétrospective JJ Karpff dit Casimir, élève de Louis David, premier conservateur du musée (mars-juin 2017).

Il a servi de modèle à une plaque de porcelaine conservée au musée Unterlinden montrant le même profil du Dr Morel, associé à deux autres médecins.
