Summary[edit]
DescriptionJean Pennycook with a penguin.jpg |
Jean Pennycook, part of a team studying Adélie penguins at Cape Royds in Antarctica, brings the work of the researchers to the K-12 education community. The researchers, led by principal investigator David Ainley and supported by NSF, travel to Antarctica each winter (it’s summer there) to conduct research aimed at understanding how the Adélie penguin colonies are responding to climate change. To learn more about the team’s research, see the NSF award abstract www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=0944411 and this feature article. NSF manages the U.S. Antarctic Program, through which it coordinates all U.S. research on the southernmost continent.
