Description
Nederlands: Kolonel der mariniers Jeff Mac Mootry is per 25 augustus Commandant Korps Mariniers en directeur Operaties Commando Zeestrijdkrachten. Op 14 augustus wordt hij hiervoor bevorderd tot brigadegeneraal der mariniers. Mac Mootry begint in 1985 als dienstplichtige bij het Korps Mariniers. Na de Praktische Opleiding tot Officier der Mariniers is hij 6 jaar pelotonscommandant. Hij behaalt de kwalificaties berg- en wintergetraind, parachutist en commando. In 1992 volgt een uitzending naar Cambodja en in 1995 naar Haïti. Daarna neemt hij als commandant van een detachement mariniers deel aan de NAVO Stabilisation Force in Bosnië. Hij is enkele jaren actief op het gebied van speciale operaties en 3 jaar compagniescommandant. In 2010 is Mac Mootry hoofd Operaties van Task Force Uruzgan. In september 2012 krijgt hij het commando over het Tweede Mariniersbataljon. De eenheid draagt onder meer bij aan antipiraterijmissies en de EU-battlegroup. Sinds eind mei 2014 is hij Chef Kabinet van de Commandant der Strijdkrachten.
