Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Jiří Pujman (1904-1964) was a Czech soldier and resistance fighter, a member of the underground military resistance organisation Defence of the Nation. Among the resistance fighters he participated in the publication of the military version of the magazine "V boj". He escaped from arrest by the Gestapo by going abroad and by a difficult route from Moravia to England. As part of the Czechoslovak ground forces in the West, he became deputy commander of the so-called Czechoslovak Combined Section of Armored Division, which arrived in western Bohemia with General George Patton's American 3rd Army in early May 1945. The photograph by an unknown author shows him in the rank of staff captain of the cavalry welcoming the Košice government after its arrival at Kbely airfield on 10 May 1945.
