Description
English: Bust of João Martins de Freitas, Caldelas (Amares) POrtugal.
Português: Por conta própria, fez escavações na década de 30 do século XX no Monte de S. Julião (Citânia castreja de São Julião, Ponte São Vicente, Vila Verde), onde encontrou vários objectos arqueológicos, que expôs na sua sala de visitas e que acabou por doar ao museu Pio XII de Braga.

Ainda hoje, os seus trabalhos arquelógicos na zona são referidos em literatura da área.

Foi ele que idealizou a estrutura urbana do centro de Caldelas: a Avenida e o Cruzeiro. Idealizou ainda uma via estruturante muito semelhante à actual Variante à Vila (partiria da ponte da Torre, não como acontece hoje), que não conseguiu concretizar, por diversos motivos. A Variante à Vila só veria a ser concretizada no início do Século XXI.
