Object history Provenance: The artist's estate sale 1867, no. 156 (“Portrætstudie, en Munk”); purchased by Councillor of State Frederik Siegfred Bang; his sale, 2.-3. December 1889, no. 111 (“Portræt-Studie af en Munk. Profil”, with two other studies mistankenly attributed to I. P. Lund); purchased by priest William Frederik Lüttken (1847–1901). Sold at Bruun Rasmussen Auctions on December 9, 2019 for DKK 2,300 (Lot 1950/182).
