Description
This painting was originally part of the decor of the dining room at Valhøj, a villa in Valby in the outskirts of Copenhagen. The owner, Joachim Dietrich Brandis commissioned the painters Lorentz Frölich, Thorald Læssøe and Johan Thomas Lundbye with the task of decorating the dining room, and the work was done by 1839. In 1895 the villa was demolished, to give way for more extensive constructon, and the panels were taken out and sold. At that time, the layout of the dining room was registered by the art historian Karl Madsen.
