Fatal Accident. Our citizens were startled last evening by the intelligence that John S. Willink, a resident of Flatbush, but doing business in New York as a broker, was thrown from his carriage yesterday, towards evening, and instantly killed. Mr. Willink was a man of fortune, and lived in the largo mansion, with spacious and highly cultivated grounds, on the slope of the hill, as you approach the village of Flatbush from Brooklyn. We understand that his footman was in the carriage with him, but which was driving we did not learn. The horse started to run as they were descending towards Flatbush from Prospect Hill, and was brought up suddenly at the Valley Grove turnpike gate, which was closed. The sudden check of the horse at this gate threw Mr. Willink from his carriage, and ho struck violently against the gate post, and was almost instantly killed. We learn from Rev. Evan M. Johnson, that Mr. W.'s father was an eminent banker in Amsterdam, Holland, and was the first European who could be induced to venture a loan in behalf of the United States, after they had declared their independence. The loan, though not large, was a great relief to the government, and gave a new spring to the courage of the people in that momentous struggle.
