Português: Busto de José Veiga (18 de Novembro de 1925 - 18 de Abril de 2002) do escultor Jorge Ulisses
José Veiga foi um artista popular bracarense, é indubitavelmente o nome maior associado à iconografia das Festas de São João em Braga. Convidado em 1954 pelo então responsável pelos riscos das decorações, Alvim Braga, vai corresponsabilizar-se pela tarefa que lhe marcou a existência. No ano seguinte, a indisponibilidade do seu mentor, vai abrir-lhe as portas da criatividade. Durante 48 anos, isto é, até à data da sua morte, este artista da alma bracarense vai guiar com o seu pincel os cartazes, decorações e iluminações, bem como toda a iconografia associada às festas de São João e à Semana Santa, deixando uma marca que continua a vigorar. |
