Description
Français : Crypte Saint-Paul - voir le titre du fichier. La crypte fut commandée au VIIe siècle par saint Agilbert pour recevoir les tombeaux des membres des familles des fondateurs et fondatrices de l'abbaye de Jouarre, qui était à l'origine une abbaye double (une pour les femmes, une pour les hommes). Cependant, trois tombeaux ne sont plus d'origine : deux ont été refaits au XIIIe siècle et un vers 1840, lors du classement aux monuments historiques. Les voûtes sont du XIIe siècle et remplacent un plafond de bois. Les passages vers la crypte Saint-Ébrégésile et la peinture jaune datent du XVIIe siècle, et les ouvertures, dans leur état actuel, du XIXe siècle. L'appareil du mur occidental est toutefois d'origine, du VIIe siècle. Les colonnes de marbre sont, quant à eux, plus anciennes que la crypte et proviennent de villas gallo-romaines.
