Title
Judge Pickrell Mansion, Colfax, Washington, 1950
Description
This Queen Anne house (center of photo) was known as the Judge Pickrell mansion. It was built by pioneer Colfax banker Alfred Coolidge. The house was purchased by Judge John N. Pickrell and his wife Maude sometime after Coolidge moved to Spokane in 1904. In the 1930's ownership of the house passed to Judge Pickrell's daughter Mary and her husband Byron T. (Bo) Henry. The house was remodeled by Bo Henry in 1954. He had the top two stories and turret taken down and turned the house into a 1950's style brick rancher that still stands on Lake Street in Colfax. The large building in the upper right is St. Ignatius Hospital. The chimney to the left of the hospital was part of the hospital's heating plant.
