English: Julian Nott ICI Innovation Balloon Gondola (T20140064000) on exhibit at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, National Air and Space Museum. [BreitlingOrbiter-Julian Nott-3-11-2015_0008]. The cabin measures 6‘10” across the propane tanks, and stands 8’4” tall from the base to the top of the load structure. It is constructed of fiberglass with carbon epoxy reinforcing in key areas, and honeycomb structure for the hatch and floor. The overhead load frame is metal. The total weight is 300 pounds. The cabin is circular with a load frame on top. It is fully furnished as it was for the record flight and comes complete with flight suits, and loose items stowed in the cabin for use during the flight. |
