Description
Polski: Józef Dunin-Borkowski ur. we Florencji w 1879 roku. Ukończył politechnikę w Dreźnie oraz Sorbonę uzyskując doktora z filozofii. Od 1914 roku w Legionach Polskich, gdzie dowodził plutonem w 2.szwadronie kawalerii. 29 IX 1914 mianowany chor.kaw., a 30 XI tego roku ppor.kaw. W maju 1915 roku rozpoczął organizacje 5.szwadronu i objął jego komendę. Potem powrócił do 2.szwadronu. 9 VIII 1915 awansowany na por.kaw.W tym samym roku objął ponownie dowodzenie nad 5.szwadronem II Dyonu Kawalerii. Po kryzysie przysięgowym pozostał w PKP, po Rarańczy (15-16 II 1918) i likwidacji 2.p.uł.PKP (LP) został przez Austriaków internowany, przebywał w obozach Dulfalva i Huszt. 1 XI 1918 przystąpił w Dębicy do organizacji szwadronu kawalerii, który stanowił zawiązek późniejszego 9.pułku i dowodził nim do 10 V 1919 oraz od 19 V tego roku. 8 XI 1918 awansowany na rtm.kaw. i wysłany na front w okolice Przemyśla. 1 XII 1919 awansowany na mjr.kaw. Uczestniczył w Wyprawie Kijowskiej, poległ podczas walk odwrotowych z Kijowa w obronie mostu na Horyniu pod Czernichowem Pochowany został w Krakowie. Odznaczony VM 5.klasy, KN, KW 3x. Pośmiertnie awansowany na ppłk.kaw. [1]
