Description The church, with its cloister, gives more of the impression of being a cathedral. It is often called the "Kaiserdom" (Emperor's cathedral). An early Holy Roman Emperor, Lothar III, planned it as a cathedral. He died in 1137, and was buried here. After his death, the building plans were scaled back. I like it, but then I like romanesque churches. It is very near the place where I was stationed in the Army for nine months, in 1960-1961.
