Description
Deutsch: Albert Küppers: Bronze-Medaillon (1904) des Geologen und Oberberghauptmanns August Huyssen (* 28. April 1824 in Nymwegen, † 2. Dezember 1903 in Bonn) auf dem Poppelsdorfer Friedhof in Bonn; Huyssen studierte in Halle und Berlin Rechts- und Staatswissenschaften, Mathematik und Naturwissenschaften. Er wurde 1861 Berghauptmann in Breslau, 1864 in Halle, 1884 Oberberghauptmann und Leiter der preußischen Bergverwaltung (Ministerialdirektor der Abteilung für das Berg-, Hütten- und Salinenwesen im Handelsministerium, Nachfolger Albert Serlos) in Berlin; nach seiner Pensionierung 1891 zog er nach Bonn und wurde 1893 Mitglied der Leopoldina (der Deutschen Akademie der Naturforscher); eine Quelle: Matschoss, Conrad, Männer der Technik, ein biographisches Handbuch, 1925
