Description
Nederlands: ‘Een eenheid van bijzonder geoefende soldaten voor moeilijke of verrassende operaties’. Een treffende verklaring in de Dikke Van Dale over het Korps Commandotroepen, dat dit jaar 75 jaar bestaat. De komende maanden vertellen 4 (oud-)special forces over hun bijzondere functies. Adjudant b.d. Willem Scheringa (85) trapt af. Hij neemt je mee terug in de tijd. “Buiten vroor het. Sneeuwvlokjes dreven op het ijskoude water. Toch dook ik erin. Het gezin moest gered”, vertelt de toen 21-jarige Scheringa over zijn optreden tijdens de Watersnoodramp van 1953. Na de reddingsactie belandde hij onderkoeld in het ziekenhuis. De volgende dag meldde hij zich weer present bij zijn eenheid om te helpen.
