Students and faculty discuss the performance of their robots during the first annual Swarmathon competition at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. During the event, students from 12 colleges and universities across the nation were invited to develop software code to operate innovative robots known as "Swarmies" to help find "resources" in the form of bar codes on the ground. When astronauts explore distant planets, such as Mars, similar robots may be used to locate resources to support exploration.
