Prisoners sort through shoes thought to belong to Hungarian Jews who were sent to the gas chamber on arrival. The warehouses were named "Kanada" because they contained the looted belongings of prisoners and were regarded within the camp as the land of plenty. The photographs are thought to depict Kanada II in Auschwitz II. |
