Description
English: Thiruvalluvar statue or also known as Valluvar statue, is an icon of the district of Kanyakumari. The statue was unveiled on 1 January, 2000. Thiruvalluvar was a fine philosopher in the old Tamil days. He wrote a manuscript called Thirukkural, 1330 ideas in not more than 2 lines. This 1330 ideas are made into 133 chapters, the height of this statue (133 ft.). The statue was made of stone and not of metal, as many old temples are built in stone and still standing. Stone is stronger than steel. Inside, the 1330 ideas are written on the walls.
