Español: Quinche plays the music of Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia as well as contemporary American music on traditional Andean instruments. This music transcends age, race and culture with upbeat festival songs, haunting gentle melodies, and beautiful renditions of popular contemporary tunes. He usually plays traditional stringed instruments, such as guitar, charango. Though he was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia, his family is from the Native kichwa Otavalo area of Ecuador, on the western slopes of the Andes mountains. Quinche grew up in a home filled with traditional art and music, and as a young boy he learned both guitar and weaving at his father's knee. He was expected to enter the family's textile business, but his heart was drawn more to the rhythms of the music than the patterns of the looms. Quinche has toured the US and Europe since 1983, playing with Qosqo(Peru), Karullacta (far way land)Ecuador) Antara(Peru), Urubamba (Peru) and other Andean bands. He performs in diverse venues including art fairs, festivals and alternative performing events around the world . Urubamba an Quinche is committed to teaching they audience about the background and traditions of they native culture, You will find music that is relaxing and others up-beat depending on your preference |
