This bridge was completed in 1912, replacing an earlier, lighter bridge which was completed in 1886.
It is currently (2017) owned by Norfolk Southern Corp.
The bridge has two railroad tracks, and lanes for vehicular traffic are cantilevered out on each side.
Trains still cross the bridge, but the vehicular lanes were closed in 1979.
