Description

Of all the possible uses of a disused welsh slate mine, this was perhaps one of the most bizarre, and - truth be told - entertaining. From the 'mysterious cloaked figure' (i.e. bored teenager complete with earphones with house music blasting away in between him taking them out to say 'follow me this way') to the rather startled looking waxworks, the real steal of the show was the spectacular caverns. I'd highly recommend!

If proper industrial archaeology is more your bag, there is the Corris Mine Explorers instead... www.corrismineexplorers.co.uk/

The Braichgoch Slate Mine operated from 1787 to 1970.
