[edit]DescriptionKingsley Plantation Large Slave House.jpg |
This is the slave house that has been refurbished at Kingsley Plantation, Florida, USA. This house is larger than the others as it housed the overseer, who was himself a slave, and his family. This house had three large rooms for sleeping and eating and a brick fireplace double the size of the fireplaces in the smaller houses for cooking and heat. Note the tabby has been covered by a lime plaster. A few of the other ruined houses are also covered in the plaster as well. Photo taken at Kingsley Plantation in 2006. |
