Description
English: Kita-in (喜多院, then written 北院) is a Buddhist temple located in the city of Kawagoe[1]Saitama Prefecture.[2][3]. It is also known informally as the Kawagoe Daishi (川越大師).

<BITS OF HISTORY>

During the Edo period this temple was partially burned to the ground but Tenkai,[4] the head priest at that time is a friend of the shōgun. After the fire the Tokugawa Iemitsu[5] valued this temple in such a high regard that he ordered parts of buildings of his own palace in Tokyo be moved here as a replacement. Today, the castle in Tokyo is gone which makes this building the only surviving building from the palace of Edo Castle.

江戸時代、このお寺は部分的に焼け焦げていましたが、当時の住職である天海は将軍の友人です。 火事の後、徳川家光はこの寺院を高く評価し、東京にある自分の宮殿の建物の一部を代わりにここに移すように命じました。 今日、東京の城はなくなり、この建物は江戸城の宮殿から残っている唯一の建物になっています。
