Et av snekkerverkstedene. August maaned 1914.

Fra 1819 til 1915 var det tvangsarbeidsanstalt i Storgata 36. Det var Stiftelsen Prins Christian Augusts Minde som i 1812 kjøpte herskapsvillaen Mangelsgården i Storgata 36 og etablerte tvangsarbeidsanstalt der. Arbeidet i anstalten besto av tekstilarbeid som spinning og veving, drevplukking som var opptrevling av gammelt tauverk, en rekke ulike verksteder med skomaker-, seilmaker- og smedverksted. Utearbeid var steinpukking eller veiarbeid. Tvangsarbeidsanstalten ble nedlagt i 1915 og tvangsarbeiderne ble overført med forstander Arne Omsted til Opstad tvangsarbeidshus på Jæren.
