Façade du Théâtre Maisonneuve 8 octobre au 23 novembre 2014 Les projections publiques de Krzysztof Wodiczko animent les monuments et les bâtiments publics grâce à leur mouvement physique expressif alliant images et paroles de citoyens marginalisés : sans-abri, immigrants, survivants de violence domestique et vétérans de guerre. Dans le cadre de BNLMTL 2014, il a réalisé Homeless Projection : Place des Arts, une nouvelle projection in situ à grande échelle dans laquelle les corps et les voix des sans-abri du quartier habiteront la surface à plusieurs niveaux du Théâtre Maisonneuve. Travaillant en étroite collaboration avec la St. Michael’s Mission et d’autres organismes communautaires, Wodiczko offre aux sans-abri un espace où ils peuvent parler de leurs expériences, raconter leurs histoires et exprimer leurs peurs et leurs désirs, nous donnant ainsi un portrait plus intime de la vie des sans-abri. Parce que ces témoignages orchestrés sont projetés sur un théâtre, les participants deviennent à la fois des spectateurs de la culture officielle et des acteurs jouant dans leur propre salle, à partir du scénario de leur propre vécu. Le visage changeant des villes, de plus en plus abandonnées aux intérêts commerciaux et à la privatisation de l’espace public, a un impact très lourd sur les personnes marginalisées qui vivent au centre-ville; en donnant la parole à ceux et celles qui sont visibles mais qui ne sont pas toujours écoutés, Wodiczko ouvre un espace démocratique pour l’expression sociale. –LJ Une coproduction du Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, du Quartier des spectacles et du Centre PHI, en collaboration avec la St. Michael’s Mission et présentée par BNLMTL 2104 : L’avenir (looking forward).
